The threats of glabal warming

Though the existence of a rise in average temperature since the 19th century is not disputed. Some people regard it as pseudoscience. The controversy focuses on specific cause of the recent warming and concentrates of the warming after the second world war.

Some see that it has not yet been asserted whether humans are the primary cause of global warming, while others attribute global warming to natural variations such as solar activities, ocean current, cosmic waves or unknown natural causes, with no related impact.

This issue has led to what is called Global Warming "YES"[for global emision reduction] and Global Warming" NO"[on business as usual] and is based on the "don't worry be happy"phylosophy.Fellow participants what are your opinions about this debate and why , also which strategy do you strive for and what are your reasons?

In response to Akompab, what I recorgnize that mentioning in the IPCC WGI Fourth Assessment Report "a convergent world with the same global population that peaks in mid – century and declines thereafter but with rapid change in economic structures towards a service and information economy with reductions in material intensity and the introduction of clean and resource efficient technologies. The emphasis is on global solutions to economic, social and environmental sustainability, including improved equity but without additional climate initiatives". If you consider all these points mentioned in the Emission Scenarios of the IPCC Special Report on Emission Scenarios(SRES), how strategy sould be the global warming in future.

I try not to be distracted by the scientific debate because there always will be uncertainty. But, I would like to see the debate as an opportunity. I think that the Global Warming issue makes some great environmental learning; we
-have made immense progress in improving the human condition and dealing with many environmental problems.
-are learning a lot about how nature works and sustains itself.
-have numerous scientific, technological, and economic solutions available to deal with the environmental problems.

I think the challenge is to make creative use of our economic and political systems to implement solutions. One important key to changing is individual actions and individuals acting together.

If you had to pick a time to live, when would it be? I think that the next 50 years will be the most exiting and challenging time to live, but we have to live more sustainably by working with the Earth. How to live more sustainably and protect the Earth?
-Take no more than we need
-Sustain the variety of the earth’s life forms and the places where they live.
-Do not use renewable resources (soil, water, forest, etc.) faster than they are replenished.
-Slow the rate of population growth by decreasing birth rate.
-Have the market prices of all goods and services include all of their harmful environmental costs.

Its obvious that earth warms continously.During our short life period ,we have to face this challenge with enormous losses in natural resources.
My openion is that,Natural reasons will always affect global warming,However human activities are increasing significantly the concentrations of green house gases, mainly co2 in theatmosphere, resulting in a global warming,Although more research is needed understanding of global warming process. According to the Green facts org(Facts on health and the Enviorenmet)computer models have improved global warming models conclude that most of the warming over the last 50 years likely to have been due to man made activities.Stern report says that doubling of temperature rising after the industrial era.It assured by IPCC report those Emmisions of long lived greenhouse gases(Co2,N2o,PFCs,SFs)have a lasting effect on atmospheric composition and climate,Even after greenhouse gas concentration have stabilized, global average surface temperatures would continue rising at a reduced rate.As the Senarios developed to predict the future climate, they project for the next century that without spesific policy changes:global mean temperature should increase by between 1.4 and 5.8c,sea level should rise by between 9 and 88cm,The nothern hemisphere cover decrease further but the antartic ice sheet should decrease and other changes should occur including an increase in some extream weather events. It create many problems in every sectors in the world.
As human being.we must all do to tackle climate change/global warming,to change peoples minds about the most dangerous challenge weve ever faced.Above all to follow the shared internationa l understanding of the desired goals of climate change policy would be a valuable frame work of action. Here I agreed with the report of uk independent paper(7th july 2007),first we must learn about it,then you learn about the ways in which you can become part of the solution to the problem in the context of your own life.with contributing to help to achieve the policy changes. The most enviroronmentaly friendly alternatives must be used.

In response to Jereya,
I think you got the point by thinking that a sustainable future will be the best to live in ,by putting all the mentioned solutions into place, but how fast will these solutions be implemented. The Landmark for the British Government by Sir Nicholas Stern report tells us that we need to invest one pecent of GDP in order not to lose twenty percent of GDP .But now that some countries are not willing to cut down emmisions, what will the future look like?

Climate change is one of the most maximum; environmental, social and economical long-term pressure that the world has been facing on.
Based on climate change and global warming (evaporation will increase due to warmer oceans its cause of heavier rainfall, sea level will rise, some part of geographical location will be flooded and some parts will face to drought, soil erosion, ecological productivity, glacier retreat, forest fire, economic negative affect) and the world will face many problems maybe some of them not forecasted yet.
The largest causes of global warming are the productions of green house gases (GHG), especially CO2, population growth, human activities, wastes, lack of efficient agriculture, forestry projects, no implementation of policies and inability of understanding (luck of global brain and cooperation)
Between 1970 and 2004, global discharges of CO2, CH4, N2O, etc; based on their global warming potential have increased by 70%, from 28.7 to 49 Giga tones of carbon dioxide. The emissions of these gases have increased at different rates.CO2 release have grown (1970 - 2004) by about 80% and created 77% of total GHG production in 2004.
Global climate change and green house gas productions have been coming from the (energy supplies, transports, industries) sectors, land uses, agriculture grew misuse of forestry, solid waste and waste water, profit of some developed countries, inequality in global sustainable development based on the use of natural resources, irresponsibility of world communities to environment, inefficient use of natural resources, use of destructive materials such as (nuclear, Napalm… bombs, …) during last wars and experiments.

The threats of global warming are not so easy to solve and it is too difficult for human to manage it, as soon as possible due to currents needs. World communities, UN agencies and environmental experts all together are trying to find solution for this phenomenon. Some of the suggested solutions are as below:

• Encourage the developed countries to accept completely, truthfully and practically the world communities and UN policies and agreements due to environment and climate change.
• Improve supply and distribution efficiency; fuel changing from coal to gas; nuclear power; renewable heat and powers (hydropower, solar, geothermal wind, and bio energy); early applications of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).
• Generation of fuel or bio fuel efficient vehicles; higher efficiency aircraft, advanced electric and hybrid vehicles with more powerful and reliable batteries, modal shifts from road transport to rail; non-motorized transport (cycling, walking).
• Integrated design of commercial buildings including technologies, such as solar PV integrated in buildings, efficient lighting and day lighting; more efficient electrical appliances and heating and cooling devices; improved cook stoves, insulation; and alternative refrigeration fluids.
• Advanced energy efficiency; CCS for industries and material recycling and substitution; and a wide selection of process-specific technologies.
• Improved crop and land management to increase soil carbon storage; improved rice cultivation techniques and livestock and fertilizer management;
• Forest management; reduced deforestation; harvested wood product management.
• Waste incineration with energy recovery; composting of organic waste; controlled waste water treatment; recycling and waste minimization.
• Encourages corporations, local and regional authorities, NGOs and civil groups to adopt a wide variety of voluntary actions. These voluntary actions may limit GHG emissions, stimulate innovative policies, and persuade the uses of new technologies

Climate change is a challenge and the vulnerability varies with geographic location, time, and social, economic and environmental conditions; that the world faces. A range of policies, including those on climate change, energy security, sustainable developments, at least equality and accesses to lives first needs and cooperation between developed, developing and poor countries, have been effective in reducing GHG productions in different sectors in the world wide. They could be initially solutions. (IPCC)

Since the beginning of Industrial Evolution, all of the major gas : CO2, CH4, N2O, O3 and CFCl, have increased in concentration and have raised up 22% over the past two years.(ISP NEWS, July 02,2007)

According to Scientist Says Political Edit Global Warming Reserch, July 30, 2006, the comparasion between the speed of natural changes and the speed of human changes: burning fossil fuels that pump out greenhouse gasses like CO2, is little.
Most of the companies try to reduce the emision of carbon dioxide by reducing the necessity to travel.

According to Chief Executive of Work Wise Uk said that the traffic congestion and over crowding on public transport are high on the public agenda, especially, in major urban area.
Enviraonmental considerations, not only noise and pollution but also impact on global warming, are also coming into the public's conciousness.

In my opinion, for the next 30 years, We should cut down using CO2 as much as we can by using clen electricity technology
-reduction in greenhouse gas emision, it should start from the indivudual action because some people think it is a problem for the future.
-each society should be coorporated and implemented the significant environmental policies to reduce carbon emissions and wastage.
